Full of fresh peas, crunchy carrots, crisp celery, and, of course, the “Caviar of Grains” – wild rice. This salad is packaged with either Ranch or Italian dressing.  Cooks in 15 minutes or make it the easy way.   It is packaged in a soaking bag.  Soak it overnight or for 6-8 hours or with you on the trail.  Use it for lunch or as a side for supper.  Add pouched tuna, or chicken or ham if you like.  Add almonds and raisins for another distinctive taste.  This is a real treat after 3 days into your trip.

    We enjoy having this cold salad no matter what the season, we plan it for every trip as a lunch or side with dinner. We also pack this salad as part of an “extra” emergency meal. It is easy & delicious on a rainy day or when fire or stove etc might be a challenge. I have served it cold, heated or room temp. The nutty, crunchy rice is delicious, the vegetables are plentiful and add texture. The salad dressing gives it that extra “salad-like” zing, but it also tastes great without it.
